Key Indian cricket players, including Rishabh Pant, K L Rahul, and Shubman Gill, have been rested for the second round of the Duleep Trophy as they prepare for the first Test against Bangladesh. The second round begins on September 12.
Other national squad members like Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel have also been exempted from the second round. Notably, Yash Dayal and Sarfaraz Khan will continue in the Duleep Trophy, indicating their likely exclusion from the playing eleven in Chennai.
The selectors have named various replacements for the rested players. Pratham Singh, Akshay Wadkar, and SK Rasheed will step in for Gill, Rahul, and Jurel, respectively. Shams Mulani, Aaqib Khan, Suyash Prabhudessai, and Rinku Singh will replace others. No changes have been made to Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India C squad.
