India's Field Goals: Key to Asian Champions Trophy Success
India's ability to score field goals will be critical in maintaining their winning streak as they compete in the Asian Champions Trophy. The team aims to improve its field goal conversion, a concern highlighted during their bronze-winning Paris Olympics campaign. Key players have made impactful contributions so far in the tournament.
India's newfound ability to score field goals will play a crucial role as the defending champions aim to extend their winning streak in the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament on Wednesday against Malaysia.
Field goal conversion was a significant concern during India's bronze medal-winning campaign at the Paris Olympics last month, where they scored 15 goals but only three from open play.
Legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who retired after the Paris Games, emphasized the need for improvement in this area. ''If we are thinking about the next level for the Indian hockey team and want to consistently win Olympic medals, we need to score more field goals because our defence has its limitations,'' he remarked.
