Mangaluru to Host 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024

Mangaluru will host the 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 at the Yemmekere International Aquatic Complex from September 10-13. Over 500 participants from 31 states, including top national swimmers and Olympians, will compete in this significant sporting event.

For the first time, Mangaluru will host the 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 at the newly established International Aquatic Complex in Yemmekere. Scheduled from September 10 to 13, the event will feature over 500 participants from 31 states.

Two-time Olympian and national record holder Srihari Nataraj expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "It's very exciting that the championships are happening in Mangaluru for the first time. This is a great opportunity for swimmers in India to showcase their potential and garner more support for the sport. I am looking forward to being in my best form and vying for Gold in all my events."

The championships will also see a strong contingent from Karnataka, including Olympian Srihari Nataraj, breaststroke sprinter Likith S P, and freestyle specialist Aneesh Gowda among many other top Indian swimmers. Women swimmers like Harshita Jayaram and Manavi Verma will also be in the spotlight.

Gopal B Hosur, President of the Organising Committee, expressed pride in hosting the event, emphasizing its importance as the 'A' Qualification mark for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is at stake. According to Monal Chokshi, Secretary General of the Swimming Federation of India, the event aims to boost the sport's popularity and improve upon previous performances.
