Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made a triumphant return to the Indian test team after nearly two years, following a near-fatal car crash in December 2022 that resulted in multiple surgeries.

The Indian cricket board announced a 16-member squad for their upcoming series against Bangladesh, commencing on September 19 in Chennai. Alongside Pant, newcomers Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal have been called up, though veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami remains sidelined due to a foot surgery.

The squad also sees the return of KL Rahul, who missed recent tests against England, and Sarfaraz Khan, who bolsters the middle order. India's pace attack will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, setting the stage for an exciting home season opener.
