Afghanistan cricket captain Hashmatullah Shahidi has urged for an increase in Test matches and a dedicated home venue in India to enhance their training and competitive edge. Currently, they host matches in India and the UAE due to ongoing security issues.
Shahidi emphasized the importance of a dedicated venue, noting that familiarity with conditions can play a pivotal role in performance. He also stressed the need for more consistent Test cricket, having played only nine matches since gaining Test status in 2017.
The upcoming Test against New Zealand marks a historic first encounter in the format. Shahidi expressed hope that governing bodies ACB and ICC will provide more opportunities against top teams to help Afghanistan hone their skills.
