Mohun Bagan on Sunday announced the contract extension of their goalkeeper Vishal Kaith until 2029. The 28-year-old has been with the Mariners since 2022, after transferring from Chennaiyin FC, and earned the 'Golden Glove' award for the best goalkeeper in the Indian Super League (ISL).

Kaith also played a pivotal role in Mohun Bagan's successful season, helping them win the League Winners Shield and qualify for the AFC Champions League Two. He was again awarded the Golden Glove in the recently concluded Durand Cup, where his performances were crucial to the team reaching the final.

Particularly noteworthy were Kaith's heroics in penalty shootouts during the quarterfinal and semifinal stages, where his double saves secured victories for his team. Kaith expressed his desire to stay with Mohun Bagan indefinitely, citing the overwhelming support from fans as a major factor in his decision to sign a long-term contract, despite receiving offers from other teams.

Mohun Bagan SG will compete in Group A of the AFC Champions League Two against Ravshan Kulob of Tajikistan, Qatar's Al-Wakrah SC, and Iran's Tractor FC. Their campaign kicks off against Ravshan at home on September 18, followed by an away fixture against Tractor on October 2.

Kaith emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean sheet in the AFC Cup and expressed confidence in the team's ability to win both the ISL and the Super Cup this season.
