Mohammedan SC head coach Andrey Chernyshov has made it clear that the club is in the Indian Super League (ISL) to win, not merely to participate. Following a decade-long hiatus, the club returned to the top tier of Indian football, fueled by an impressive I-League campaign under Chernyshov's guidance, setting high expectations for their ISL journey.

The team showcased exceptional football in the I-League last season, igniting hopes among fans for similar displays in the ISL. Although the journey ahead is expected to be challenging, Chernyshov remains confident in his squad's capability to compete at the highest level.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the Mini-Kolkata derbies against East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Super Giant, which hold significant importance for all Kolkata football enthusiasts. Chernyshov, drawing on his experience from major derbies in Russia, understands the magnitude of these matches and their impact on the supporters, aiming to make Kolkata a Black and White stronghold.

While the derbies are crucial, Chernyshov emphasized the importance of preparing for every match in the league. With a blend of seasoned foreign and talented young Indian players, the squad has shown promise during training. However, the coach admitted that the true test lies in the actual ISL matches ahead.

With 13 teams vying for the top six playoff spots, competition is tougher than ever. Chernyshov acknowledged the formidable nature of the ISL but is determined to leave a mark in their debut campaign. Despite the challenges, he promised the supporters that the team will fight in every game and strive to deliver good football throughout the season.

Concluding with a clear ambition, Chernyshov stated, "We are not in the league just to participate. We want to win matches, as is expected of professional players. We will strive to achieve many good things this season.
