Indian para-powerlifter Kasthuri Rajamani failed to secure a podium finish in the women's up to 67 kg final at the ongoing Paris Paralympics, landing 8th with a best lift of 106 kg. China's Yujiao Tan set a world record with a 142 kg lift, while Egypt's Fatma Elyan and Brazil's Maria de Fatima took second and third places, lifting 139 kg and 133 kg respectively.

On a brighter note, Praveen Kumar clinched the gold medal in the men's high jump T64 final with a record-breaking jump of 2.08 meters, establishing a new Asian record. The USA's Derek Loccident secured the silver with a jump of 2.06 meters, breaking the previous Paralympic record, followed by Uzbekistan's Temurbek Giyazov, who earned bronze with a personal best of 2.03 meters.

With Praveen's victory, India's medal tally at the Paris Paralympics has risen to 26, including six golds, nine silvers, and eleven bronzes, marking India's most successful Paralympics ever. This year, India has sent its largest ever contingent of 84 athletes across 12 sports, aiming to surpass its previous achievements in Tokyo 2020, where the nation won 19 medals.
