India's Yashasvi Jaiswal is putting a significant emphasis on maintaining consistency as he focuses on red-ball cricket during the ongoing Duleep Trophy, gearing up for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh.
The 22-year-old, who has quickly established himself as a crucial player in India's red-ball squad, scored 30 off 50 balls for India 'B' in their Duleep Trophy clash with India 'A' in Bengaluru on Thursday.
''It's always a great opportunity to play in the Duleep or Ranji Trophy. I'm eagerly looking forward to it and aim to enjoy my game to the fullest. I'll give it my all,'' Jaiswal said in an interview with JioCinema.
As he looks ahead to India's World Test Championship campaign, Jaiswal, who has featured in nine Tests since his debut, remarked, ''Every match holds significance due to the World Test Championship. We need to put forth our best effort because every win is crucial. ''Playing for India is an incredible opportunity and representing the country is my biggest motivation.''
''I've worked tirelessly to maintain my form and will continue to do so. Staying consistent in practice and preparation is key to improving my results. I avoid overthinking and focus on preparing well and continuously improving my game. The more I practice, the better I get.'' India is slated to host Bangladesh, New Zealand, and England during the 2024-25 home season, with the series against Bangladesh kicking off on September 19.
''I've noticed they've been performing well. Competing against them will be enjoyable. Playing Test matches is always fun, and I'm looking forward to it,'' Jaiswal concluded.
