New Zealand Cricket has appointed former international all-rounder Sarah Tsukigawa as the new selector for the women's national team. Tsukigawa steps into her role following the departure of Jason Wells in May and will be instrumental in choosing the squad for next month's ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

The New Zealand side is one of three teams yet to announce their 15-player squad, which will be finalized on September 10 ahead of a scheduled announcement in Christchurch. Tsukigawa expressed her longstanding desire to contribute to women's cricket and highlighted the significance of her new role.

"I've always wanted to get back involved in women's cricket and give back to the game that has given me so much," Tsukigawa told the ICC. "Clear communication is crucial in selection, and I believe my experience as a player will be valuable. I have great faith in this current group of White Ferns and the pathways being developed to produce future stars."

Tsukigawa, who made 61 international appearances for New Zealand, participated in the inaugural T20 World Cup in England in 2009. She has since progressed in her career as a selector and assistant coach of a domestic team in Otago while continuing her work as a teacher.
