Sports Minister Mandaviya on Thursday lauded the Indian contingent for achieving the country's best-ever medal haul and expressed optimism about winning more medals in the remaining two days of the Paralympics.

India has already secured 24 medals in Paris, surpassing their previous best of 19 medals in Tokyo. Mandaviya also felicitated women's 400m T20 bronze medalist Deepthi Jeevanji.

Deepthi, a world champion, was a strong contender for gold but managed to secure bronze in the T20 category. Born to daily-wage laborer parents in Telangana, she expressed mixed feelings about her performance. Mandaviya highlighted the pride the athletes have brought to the country. Other notable athletes at the event included Ravi Rongali, Rakshita Raju, Kanchan Lakhani, Sakshi Kasana, and Manu, along with their coaches.
