Axar Patel showcased exceptional prowess, rescuing India D with a counter-attacking innings of 86 runs after a disastrous start, and later picking up two timely wickets against India C on day one of the Duleep Trophy match.

India C bowlers Anshul Kamboj and Vijaykumar Vyshak capitalized on a favorable pitch, leaving India D struggling at 48 for six. Patel's vigilant start soon turned aggressive, propelling his team to a total of 164 in 48.3 overs.

India C, in their response, were 91 for four at stumps, trailing by 73 runs. Patel, complementing pacer Harshit Rana's twin strikes, dismissed Aryan Juyal and Rajat Patidar. Wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel remained unbeaten on 32, partnered by Baba Indrajith at the close of play.
