Indian sprinter Simran has advanced to the women's 100m (T12) final at the Paralympics, continuing her impressive form by clocking 12.33sec in the semifinal race on Thursday.

Accompanied by her guide Abhay Singh, the 24-year-old reigning world champion from New Delhi secured second place behind Germany's Katrin Mueller-Rottgardt in the second semifinal.

Despite being born prematurely with a visual impairment, Simran ranked third overall in the semis. She will compete in the final later tonight alongside Ukraine's Oksana Boturchuk and reigning Paralympic champion Omara Durand of Cuba, who is also a world record holder.
