Jos Buttler to Miss T20 Series Against Australia Due to Injury
England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will miss the T20 series against Australia due to a calf injury. Phil Salt will lead the team in his absence. Jamie Overton and Jordan Cox have been called up as replacements. The T20 and ODI series will take place in September.
England's white-ball cricket captain, Jos Buttler, is set to miss the upcoming three-match Twenty20 series against Australia due to a right calf injury. The announcement was made by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday, confirming that Phil Salt will lead the team in Buttler's absence.
Buttler, who also sat out The Hundred, has been named in the squad for the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia later this month. However, his participation in the ODI series remains uncertain, as per the ECB's statement.
Allrounder Jamie Overton, who made his test debut in 2022, will replace Buttler in the T20 squad. Additionally, uncapped Jordan Cox has been included in the ODI squad. The T20 series is slated for Sept. 11-15, while the ODI series will run from Sept. 19-29.
