Jordan Veretout Joins Olympique Lyonnais: A Strategic Midfield Boost

France midfielder Jordan Veretout has signed a two-year contract with Olympique Lyonnais, transferring from Olympique de Marseille for 4 million euros, the club announced on Thursday. The deal includes additional bonuses of up to 3 million euros and a 25% sell-on clause.

Veretout, aged 31, commenced his senior career at Nantes before moving to Aston Villa in 2015. He joined Marseille in 2022, where he made 94 appearances in various competitions. His transfer to Lyon was made possible outside the summer transfer window due to specific French regulations.

Lyon, who had a shaky start to their Ligue 1 season, managed to secure a win against Strasbourg last week. They will continue their campaign at Lens after the international break. Meanwhile, unbeaten Marseille is set to host Nice in their next fixture.
