Harvinder Singh's Historic Paralympic Journey: A Quest for Back-to-Back Medals

Harvinder Singh, India's first Paralympic medallist in archery, made history with his bronze at the Tokyo Games. He continues his pursuit for back-to-back medals in the men's recurve open archery competition, advancing to the semifinals after defeating top opponents. Despite early life challenges, Harvinder has achieved remarkable success in both sports and academics.

Harvinder Singh, India's pioneering Paralympic medallist in archery, secured his spot in the semifinals of the men's recurve open event on Wednesday, edging closer to a second consecutive Paralympic medal.

Singh displayed remarkable composure to overcome world No. 9 Hector Julio Ramirez of Colombia in a tense quarterfinal clash, winning 6-2. His journey to the semis also included victories over Tseng Lung-Hui of Chinese Taipei and Setiawan Setiawan of Indonesia.

Despite a challenging start in life, Harvinder's dedication to archery, inspired by the 2012 London Paralympics, has led him to significant feats, including India's first archery medal at the Tokyo Games and a gold at the Asian Para Games. Alongside, he is earning a Ph.D. in economics.
