Siddhartha Agarwal has etched his name in the history books as the oldest Indian swimmer to conquer the English Channel. The 49-year-old achieved this remarkable feat on August 29, according to a press release from Swim Life. The Bengaluru-based swimmer completed the grueling 42 km distance in 15 hours and six minutes.

Initially not expecting to set any records, Siddhartha embarked on this journey with a relay team in 2018. He was inspired by fellow Bengaluru swimmer Srikaanth Viswanathan, who entered the Limca Book of Records in the same year for a solo swim at age 46. Sid surpassed this record, overcoming formidable conditions in the last 10 km of his swim.

Preparation for this solo endeavor involved a demanding regime under coach Satish Kumar, a former international swimmer. Despite being an entrepreneur, Siddhartha dedicated substantial time to practice. His journey from novice swimmer to record-breaker showcases his incredible discipline and has become an inspiration for many aspiring open water swimmers.
