Indian athletes showcased their prowess at the Paralympics by clinching silver and bronze medals in both the men's high jump T63 and javelin throw F46 categories. This remarkable feat marks all five podium finishes for India coming from para-athletics events.
Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu took silver and bronze respectively in the men's high jump T63 event. Kumar cleared a height of 1.88 meters while Thangavelu managed 1.85 meters, both commendable marks, though overshadowed by USA's Ezra Frech who clinched the gold.
In another stellar performance, Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh Gurjar secured the second and third positions in the javelin throw F46 final. Ajeet triumphed with a throw of 65.62 meters in the fifth round, surpassing Gurjar's 64.96 meters. The gold medal was taken by Cuba's Guillermo Gonzalez Varona with a throw of 66.16 meters.
