Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is set to miss the first round of the 2024-25 Duleep Trophy due to an injury he sustained during a pre-season fixture in Coimbatore. The injury occurred while he was fielding for Mumbai against TNCA XI last week, causing him to sit out the second innings.
The right-handed batter is currently under recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after being advised to rest. Over his first-class career, which spans 82 matches, Suryakumar has amassed 5,628 runs, boasting a commendable average of 43.62, including 14 centuries.
Previously, Suryakumar emphasized his commitment to red-ball cricket, expressing that the format has always been his main focus since his early days in Mumbai's maidans. 'Red-ball cricket has always been my priority,' said Yadav in a statement quoted by the ICC. Despite his injury setback, he remains dedicated to the longest format of the game.
