India's Suryakumar Yadav will be absent from the Duleep Trophy's opening round, scheduled to start on September 5, due to a hand injury sustained last week.

Suryakumar, who last played against TNCA XI in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, had to sit out the final day's play due to this injury.

His unavailability for the tournament was confirmed by BCCI sources. Suryakumar was set to represent India C against India D in Ananthapur from September 5-8. He is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, India A and India B will face off at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The tournament doubles as a selection ground for India players vying for spots in the home Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19 in Chennai.
