Former Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) president Deepa Malik expressed optimism about India's performance at the ongoing Paris Paralympics, where the nation has already secured seven medals, including one gold, two silvers, and four bronzes.

Highlighting the strong showing of female athletes, Malik noted that four of five medal winners are women. She praised Avani Lekhara for making history as the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic gold medals. Preeti Pal also made headlines by winning the bronze in the 200m T-35 race, becoming the first Indian woman to secure two medals in track and field events at the Paralympics or Olympics.

Nishad Kumar added to India's medal tally by clinching a silver in the men's high jump - T47 final with a season-best leap of 2.04 meters. Rubina's bronze in the P2-Women's 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final and Manish Narwal's silver in the men's P1 10m air pistol SH1 competition further bolstered India's success. The nation has sent its largest contingent yet, with 84 athletes across 12 sports, aiming to surpass its previous record of 19 medals at Tokyo 2020.
