England is just three wickets away from securing a series-clinching victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test at Lord's. By tea on Day 4, the tourists had been reduced to 260 for seven, chasing a record 483 runs.

The Sri Lankans still need 223 more runs to achieve a historic win at the iconic venue. Captain Dhananjaya de Silva remains unbeaten on 45, partnered with Milan Rathnayake, who is not out on 26, in an unbroken 60-run stand.

Sri Lanka started the day on 53-2 and showed resilience with key contributions from Dimuth Karunaratne and Dinesh Chandimal, who both scored half-centuries, and 36 from Angelo Mathews. Bowler Gus Atkinson took 3-43, adding to his first-innings century, which earned him a spot on the Lord's honours board.

England has already bagged the first Test in Manchester and seeks a series sweep. The third and final match starts at The Oval on Friday after a summer where England has also dominated the West Indies 3-0, bolstered by centuries from Joe Root in this Test.
