Rohan Bopanna and Aldila Sutjiadi's Remarkable Comeback at US Open
Rohan Bopanna and his partner Aldila Sutjiadi made an impressive comeback to reach the mixed doubles quarterfinals at the US Open. After losing the first set 0-6, they edged out a 7-6(5) 10-7 win against John Pears and Katerina Siniakova. They now face fourth seeds Matthew Ebden and Barbora Krejcikova.
India's Rohan Bopanna and Indonesia's Aldila Sutjiadi have secured their place in the mixed doubles quarterfinals at the US Open with an extraordinary comeback following a first-set loss that left them scoreless.
Seeded eighth, the pair faced intense pressure from Australia's John Pears and Czech player Katerina Siniakova. Despite losing the first set 0-6, Bopanna and Sutjiadi ultimately clinched victory with a 7-6(5) 10-7 win in a second-round match lasting one hour and 13 minutes.
''Well sometimes it's not about how you start, it's about how you finish. They started also lights out and we changed a little strategy with varying the pace so that also helped,'' Bopanna told PTI. Looking ahead, they will now face fourth seeds Matthew Ebden and Barbora Krejcikova.
Earlier, Bopanna and Sutjiadi had triumphed in their opening round against Tim Puetz of Germany and Dutch player Demi Schuurs with a score of 7-6(7) 7-6(5). Additionally, Bopanna advanced to the third round of men's doubles with Matthew Ebden, following a 6-2 6-4 win over Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena and Argentina's Federico Coria.
