Argentine Rugby Legend Agustin Creevy Ponders Future After Landmark International Exit

Veteran former Argentina captain Agustin Creevy is contemplating quitting rugby altogether after playing his last international match for the Pumas on Saturday. The 39-year-old appeared for the final eight minutes as Argentina narrowly lost to Australia in their Rugby Championship clash in La Plata.

Creevy received a rousing ovation from the hometown crowd after he ran on as a substitute, marking what he had pre-announced as the perfect conclusion to his 19-year career with the Pumas, having earned 110 caps. The seasoned player, however, has not ruled out continuing at the club level.

"I will think about whether I want to continue playing professional rugby," Creevy stated post-match after the 20-19 defeat. With his family based in Britain and a recent stint at Sale Sharks, Creevy hinted at potential opportunities there but also committed to playing at his first club, San Luis, if other options don't materialize.

Creevy, who is the only Argentine to have competed in four World Cups, expressed interest in a coaching career, highlighting the importance of enjoying the sport. He shared, "I would like to be remembered not just for what I did on the field, but more so for the great times shared with my teammates."
