Mohammedan Sporting Club, the 2023-24 I-League champions, triumphed over the Super League Kerala All-Star XI in a charity match held at Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri on Friday. Organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the event aimed to raise funds for the victims of recent landslides in Wayanad, with all proceeds directed towards the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF). The match concluded with a 2-1 victory for Mohammedan Sporting, showcasing football's unifying power during challenging times.

AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey, Vice President NA Haris, Secretary General Anilkumar, and Kerala Football Association President Navas Meeran were present at the event, according to a press release from Super League Kerala. During half-time, Chaubey announced AIFF's plans to assign an expert team to renovate the Payyanad Stadium and lauded the performance of both teams, as well as the vibrant atmosphere created by the community's support.

In addition, Meeran revealed that the Malappuram District Football Association (MDFA) had donated Rs1 lakh to the CMDRF. To honor their contributions, Super League Kerala presented mementoes to President Chaubey. The game saw Mohammedan Sporting starting with aggressive attacks, but the All-Star XI managed strong defense initially. The first goal was netted by Mohammedan's Lalremsanga in the 21st minute, followed by an equalizer from All-Star XI's Kervens Belfort just four minutes later. The winning goal came in the second half from Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kadiri. Indian football legend IM Vijayan made a notable guest appearance for the SLK All-Star XI.
