The president of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), Rakesh Tiwari, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Jay Shah, who was elected unopposed as the next Independent Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah has been serving as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary since October 2019 and as the Chair of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021. He is set to take on his new role on December 1, 2024.

BCA President Rakesh Tiwari expressed his confidence in Jay Shah's leadership capabilities, believing that the ICC will achieve unprecedented success and continue to grow and inspire millions globally. Tiwari shared the immense pride of the BCA and extended his best wishes for Shah in his prestigious new position. "On behalf of the Bihar Cricket Association and cricket enthusiasts across Bihar, I extend my heartiest congratulations to Jay Shah. His visionary leadership and commitment to the sport have been instrumental in shaping the future of cricket, both in India and globally," Tiwari said in a release from the BCA.

Earlier this year, Tiwari also expressed gratitude to Jay Shah and the BCCI for approving the reconstruction work of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. The BCCI had held a pivotal meeting in June to discuss the development of cricket infrastructure in Bihar. Regarding Shah's election to the ICC, he was the sole nominee for the chairmanship after current Chair Greg Barclay chose not to seek a third term. Shah stated his commitment to globalizing cricket and ensuring the coexistence of various formats, advanced technologies, and expansion into new markets. "Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before," Shah added. (ANI)
