Aarti clinched a bronze medal in the women's 10,000m race walk event at the World U20 Athletics Championships on Friday, registering a national record time of 44 minutes 39.39 seconds. This victory marked India's first medal at the championship.
The 17-year-old finished behind Chinese race walkers Zhuoma Baima, who took gold with a time of 43:26.60, and Meiling Chen, who secured silver clocking 44:30.67.
Additionally, Pooja Singh rewrote the national U20 women's high jump record during Thursday night's qualification round. The 17-year-old from Haryana's Fatehbad district cleared 1.83m, surpassing her previous record of 1.82m set last year in Korea. She finished second in group B and ninth overall, advancing to the final scheduled for Saturday.
