Avani Lekhara has rewritten history by becoming the first Indian to win consecutive Paralympic gold medals. Competing in the women's 10m air rifle SH1 event, Lekhara shot a record-breaking 249.7 points, surpassing her previous Paralympic record of 249.6 set in Tokyo.

Sharing the podium with Lekhara was Mona Agarwal, who secured bronze with a score of 228.7. Agarwal, who has participated in various sports before focusing on shooting, marked a historic achievement for India as it is the first time the country has won two medals in a single Paralympic shooting event.

Lekhara's journey to this accomplishment was fraught with challenges. She battled health issues, including a gallbladder surgery, but her resolve remained unshaken. The Jaipur-based shooter dedicated her success to her coaches, parents, and team, emphasizing the positive environment of the national camp as a key factor in her victory.
