In response to Manu Bhaker's mishap during the Tokyo Olympics, the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) has enforced a new rule. All para shooters competing in the Paris Paralympics are now required to carry spare weapons to guard against unforeseen technical failures.

Top athletes, including Tokyo gold medallist Avani Lekhara and young shooter Rudransh Khandelwal, are already adhering to the new guideline. Lekhara has packed four weapons, while Khandelwal is equipped with a pair of pistols.

According to para shooting chief coach JP Nautiyal, this measure is to ensure a smooth and trouble-free performance in Paris. Previously, the practice of carrying backup arms was not stringent, leading to Bhaker's significant setback. The new rule is aimed to eliminate such risks in the future.
