Paralympics Kick Off with Dutch Gold and Chinese Dominance

Dutch track cyclist Caroline Groot secured the first gold at the Paralympic Games, with the Chinese team securing four additional gold medals on the opening day. Groot triumphed in the 500-meter time trial in women's track cycling for the C4 and C5 classifications, marking the first medal event of the Games which opened with a spectacular ceremony on Wednesday.

Following Groot's success, Chinese athletes shone on the track and in the pool, with Li Zhangyu winning the men's C1 3000m individual pursuit, Xiaomei Wang excelling in the women's C1-3 3000m individual pursuit, and Jiang Yuyan capturing gold in the women's 50m freestyle in the S6 para swimming classification.
