In a notable transfer, Italy winger Federico Chiesa has officially joined Liverpool from Juventus for 10 million pounds (USD 13.2 million). This move, completed on Thursday, makes Chiesa the first outfield player brought in by Liverpool since the arrival of new manager Arne Slot during the offseason.

The deal features Liverpool paying an additional 2.5 million pounds (USD 3.3 million) based on team performance. Chiesa, who transferred to Juventus from Fiorentina in October 2020 for 50 million euros, gained prominence by starring in Italy's European Championship title win in 2021.

Despite suffering an ACL injury in January 2022 that sidelined him for 10 months, Chiesa returned to international action and played four matches in Euro 2024. Expressing his excitement, Chiesa stated, 'I'm so happy to be a Liverpool player. When sporting director Richard Hughes and the coach called me, I said Yes immediately because of the history and fanbase of this club. I'm thrilled to start.'
