West Indies clinched a 3-0 T20I series whitewash against South Africa, registering an eight-wicket win via the DLS method in the final match at the Brian Lara Stadium. Their outright dominance over the Proteas, extending back to March 2023, continued unabated with eight wins in their last ten encounters, including consecutive 3-0 series sweeps.
South Africa aspired for a substantial performance in the series finale, but rain delays disrupted their plans. The game resumed without overs lost, but another rain interruption reduced play to 13 overs per side. Chasing an adjusted target of 116, the West Indies faced an early setback when Alick Athanaze was dismissed early in the chase. However, Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran's aggressive batting decimated South Africa's chances of avoiding the whitewash.
Pooran scored 35 before mistiming a shot to Jason Smith off Ottneil Baartman. Despite this, the damage was irreversible. Shimron Hetmyer sealed the victory with an unbeaten 31, while Hope's unbeaten 42-run knock, capped with a six, concluded the chase. South Africa's innings, struggling with individual contributions, saw Tristan Stubbs' impressive 40 runs as the sole highlight. The spin duo of Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase kept the Proteas' batsmen quiet, conceding just 22 runs in five overs collectively.
