Former England pace legend James Anderson has hailed India's star batter Virat Kohli as "one of the best" when it comes to chasing runs and finishing games, especially in white-ball cricket. Anderson shared his thoughts recently on the Tailenders Podcast.

During the podcast, Anderson remarked, "I do not know if there has been a better batter in the history of the game batting second and chasing down scores than Virat Kohli. His record at chasing is absolutely phenomenal. The number of hundreds he has scored in the second innings, chasing down scores is ridiculous." Anderson emphasized that Kohli's exceptional chasing abilities are rooted in his profound self-belief.

"It is no surprise that when he gets in that situation, with his mentality, it is just like it is meant to be. His self-belief is so high," Anderson added. When asked if Kohli is the greatest white-ball batter ever, Anderson acknowledged Michael Bevan of Australia as a notable finisher but asserted that Kohli's centuries during successful chases elevate him to the status of the "greatest finisher" and among the best white-ball players ever.

Reflecting on their on-field rivalry, Anderson noted that they have faced each other in 36 Test innings, with Kohli scoring 305 runs at an average of 43.57, and notably improving his performance during the 2018 England tour, where he topped the run charts with 593 runs in five matches. This rivalry, marked by mutual respect and competition, has always been closely watched by cricket enthusiasts.

Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the greatest white-ball batters, made his ODI debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka. He has since amassed 13,906 runs in 295 matches at a strike rate of 93.54, featuring 50 centuries and 72 fifties. He is the third-highest ODI run-getter and the second-highest in T20Is. His chasing records are particularly impressive, with 7,852 runs in 162 ODIs and 2,013 runs in 53 T20Is while chasing, showcasing his remarkable consistency and ability to handle pressure situations.
