In a recent episode of The Rao Podcast, former Indian all-rounder and batting coach Sanjay Bangar shared insights into the future of star cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Bangar stated that advancements in fitness and nutrition could extend their careers significantly. Specifically, he believes Rohit Sharma, known as the 'Hitman,' could play until the age of 40.
Discussing the changing landscape of cricket careers, Bangar suggested that longer careers could benefit the Indian team immensely. He envisions Virat Kohli continuing in Test cricket for another five years, provided that his body endures the rigors of the sport. 'The last format that Virat would give up will be Test cricket,' Bangar remarked.
Bangar also reflected on the duo's recent performances, highlighting their roles in India's ICC T20 World Cup victory this year. Rohit Sharma finished as the second-highest run-getter, while Kohli's crucial 76-run knock in the final helped secure the win. With upcoming tournaments like the ICC World Test Championship 2025 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, Bangar believes both cricketers still have significant milestones ahead.
