In a significant move, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) announced on Monday the introduction of prize money for player-of-the-match and player-of-the-tournament awards in all domestic women's and junior cricket competitions. The announcement was made by BCCI secretary Jay Shah through a post on social media.

Jay Shah also revealed that similar prize money awards will be introduced for men's cricket, specifically in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments. This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit.

Last year, the BCCI had significantly increased the prize money for various domestic tournaments. Ranji Trophy winners now receive Rs 5 crore, while winners of the Vijay Hazare Trophy get Rs 1 crore. The initiative is part of BCCI's efforts to foster a more rewarding environment for cricketers at all levels. A special thanks was conveyed to the Apex Council for their support in this endeavor.
