Accessibility organization Svayam, in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), has received accolades from top para-athletes, including table tennis player Bhavina Patel, for enhancing transportation accessibility in the national capital. This support comes as athletes prepare for the Paris Paralympics starting Wednesday.
Svayam donated special vehicles that can accommodate wheelchairs without the need for athletes to transfer, providing greater mobility and ease during their stay. Patel expressed gratitude to SAI, the Table Tennis Federation of India, and others for this crucial initiative.
Para discus thrower Sakshi Kasana also commended Svayam, emphasizing the significant positive impact of the special vehicles on her training and daily routine. PCI President Devendra Jhajharia highlighted the role of such collaborations in addressing the needs of para-athletes and promoting accessibility and dignity for people with disabilities, a sentiment echoed by Svayam Founder-Chairperson Sminu Jindal.
