On the fifth and final day of the first test, Bangladesh eyed an historic win as Pakistan collapsed to 108-6.

Pakistan struggled against a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack, compounded by poor shot selection in the first session on Sunday.

At lunch, Pakistan still trails by nine runs after conceding a 117-run first innings lead.

Mohammad Rizwan, the last recognized batsman, was unbeaten on 22, including three successive boundaries off Nahid Rana. Shaheen Shah Afridi was not out on 1 after surviving an lbw referral against Shakib Al Hasan just before the break.

Bangladesh has lost 12 of its last 13 test matches against Pakistan, with their only other test match at Sylhet in Bangladesh ending in a draw in 2015.

Pakistan resumed Sunday at 23-1, with a 94-run deficit. Captain Shan Masood (14) was dismissed in the second over by fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, caught behind for a faint edge.

Masood argued with onfield umpire Richard Kettleborough, but television replays confirmed the edge after Bangladesh's successful television referral.

Hasan Mahmud should have dismissed Babar Azam for a pair of ducks, but wicketkeeper Litton Das spilled a simple catch. Babar hit three boundaries before being dismissed by tall fast bowler Rana (1-30) on 22.

Pakistan's middle-order batters threw their wickets away against spinners Shakib and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. First innings centurion Saud Shakeel was stumped for zero, his first in his test career, after an extravagant shot against Shakib. Abdullah Shafique lost patience and top-edged a shot to point off Shakib (2-24). Off-spinner Mehidy (1-5) further pushed for victory by finding the edge of Salman Ali Agha's bat in his second over.
