Following his match-winning ton against Sri Lanka, England wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith celebrated his maiden Test century and appreciated the support from those who aided his journey to the national team. Smith's composed and versatile play was crucial in both innings, leading England to a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Manchester.

"It feels wonderful to have reached this milestone after narrowly missing out in the previous series. The messages of support really mean a lot, and it's a moment of immense pride," Smith shared. He emphasized the importance of securing a first-inning lead, anticipating the challenges of batting in the fourth inning.

Despite Sri Lanka's troubled start, vital innings from Dhananjaya de Silva and Milan Rathnayake pushed their total to 236. England responded with notable performances from Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Smith, securing a 122-run lead. Sri Lanka fought back in their second innings, thanks to contributions from Angelo Matthews, Dinesh Chandimal, and Kamindu Mendis. Nonetheless, England remained resolute, with Root's half-century and contributions from Brook and Smith sealing the win. Smith's outstanding play earned him the 'Player of the Match' award.
