Czech midfielder Soucek netted the first goal at the 67th minute, inciting wild celebrations among away fans, which led to an advertising hoarding falling and trapping the ball boy. Reacting swiftly, Soucek halted his celebrations to hold up the hoarding, while Bowen aided by pulling the child to safety.
Bowen, who scored again five minutes later, expressed his instinctive reaction to the incident by stating, "I just managed to grab him out as quick as possible, it was just instinct." Following the match, Bowen gifted his shirt to the rescued ball boy, marking a heartwarming end to a dramatic game.
