Anwar El Ghazi Donates 500,000 Euros to Gaza Children After Wrongful Termination Settlement
Anwar El Ghazi has pledged to donate 500,000 euros from his wrongful termination payout from Mainz 05 to support children in Gaza. The Dutch footballer was dismissed by the club following his pro-Palestinian social media post. A German court recently ruled in his favor, ordering Mainz to pay him 1.5 million euros.
Footballer Anwar El Ghazi has pledged a sum of 500,000 euros to aid children in Gaza. The funds come as part of his wrongful termination settlement with Bundesliga club Mainz 05, which dismissed him for a social media post supporting Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Mainz 05 suspended and subsequently terminated El Ghazi's contract in October, amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hamas. The German court ruled the termination unjust, resulting in a 1.5 million euro compensation for El Ghazi.
El Ghazi, now with Cardiff City, stated on social media that he is grateful for the settlement. He committed a portion of it to Gaza children and aims to amplify his voice for the oppressed.
