Indian Surfing Team Secures Historic Quota for 2026 Asian Games

The Indian surfing team has made history by securing its first-ever quota for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Both men's and women's teams have earned spots.

The quota was awarded based on the cumulative ranking points accumulated by Indian surfers during the Asian Surfing Championships.

The final decision on which players will compete in both categories will be made by the Surfing Federation of India.

Kishore Kumar narrowly missed out in the semifinals of the U-18 Boys category, despite his impressive performance in earlier rounds that earned India the quota.

Kishore finished third in the semifinals with a score of 8.26, behind China's Chengzheng Wang and Japan's Taro Takai.

A total of eight Indian surfers competed in four categories at the Asian Surfing Championships.

Harish Muthu made history by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Asian Surfing Championships.

Surfing Federation of India President Arun Vasu expressed his pride, stating that this achievement is a testament to the hard work and determination of everyone involved.

While Kishore did not make it to the finals, his performance was praised considering his age and talent.

For the women, Kamali Moorthy and Sugar Banarse participated but bowed out in the opening round.
