England opener Philip Salt has opened up about his "personal experience" of playing under Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Chandrakant Pandit during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Amid reports of foreign players being frustrated with Chandrakant's militant style, Salt had a contrasting experience.

Salt, 27, praised Chandrakant's coaching skills and revealed their excellent relationship. "That's not my personal experience. He reads a room well, knows when to support you and when to push you. We've got a great relationship," Salt said during the CEAT Cricketing Rating Awards. Salt scored 435 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 182.01, becoming a key player for KKR.

Despite his contributions, Salt was recalled by England for their series against Pakistan before the World Cup, and Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz replaced him. Salt felt "disappointed" to leave KKR mid-season but lauded the team for winning the IPL title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
