Chelsea's Cole Palmer expressed his delight at being named the PFA's Young Player of the Year but stressed that helping the club win trophies remains his top priority. The 22-year-old scored an impressive 22 goals in his debut Premier League season with Chelsea after joining from Manchester City. Palmer also featured in five of England's seven European Championship matches, scoring in the final loss to Spain.
Palmer revealed that he used the Players' Player of the Year trophy as his phone wallpaper for motivation last season, yet his main focus remains on achieving team success. 'The whole season was great for me personally,' Palmer told Sky Sports. 'Hopefully, we can build on this success in the upcoming season.'
The third Chelsea player to win the award after Scott Parker and Eden Hazard, Palmer has recently extended his contract with the club until 2033. 'I want to win trophies with Chelsea, that is the main thing,' Palmer stated. 'Individual awards are nice, but it's on me to produce for Chelsea and that's what I plan to do.'
