Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has voiced his confidence in all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan. Shakib has impressed in the nets after seeking medical advice for an eye problem earlier this year in Singapore.

"He is actually batting well. He has looked fitter. He has done some eye testing as well. He is saying that it helped him with the problem he had," Hathurusinghe said. The coach also praised the facilities in Lahore, where a practice match against Pakistan A took place.

The series, starting on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, will be Jason Gillespie's first assignment as Pakistan's Test coach. Currently, Pakistan sits two spots above Bangladesh in the WTC points table. Weather predictions suggest a possibility of rain, with the second Test scheduled from August 30 to September 3.
