Right-arm medium-fast bowler Milan Rathnayake will make his test debut for Sri Lanka when the team faces England in the first of their three-test series at Old Trafford, Manchester. The announcement was made by Sri Lanka Cricket on Tuesday. Rathnayake will team up with Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando in Sri Lanka's pace attack, while Prabath Jayasuriya is the only specialist spinner named for the match starting Wednesday.
Sri Lanka is coming off a seven-wicket loss to England Lions in a warm-up match last week. The team has not clinched a test victory against England since June 2014. The second and third tests of the series will be held in London, at Lord's from August 26 and at the Oval from September 6.
The Sri Lanka squad includes: Dhananjaya De Silva (Captain), Dimuth Karunaratne, Nishan Madushka, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Prabath Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando, Milan Rathnayake.
