In a bold move, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced Poland's intention to bid for the Olympic Games in either 2040 or 2044. Speaking at a news conference focused on the modernization of soccer stadiums, Tusk admitted that the goal's realism still needs evaluation.
"Taking into account the preliminary decisions and declarations of the International Olympic Committee, we can talk about 2040 or 2044," Tusk stated, showcasing his belief in the country's ability to make this dream a reality. Poland has prior experience in hosting significant sporting events, like the Euro 2012, which it co-hosted with Ukraine, and last summer's multi-sports European Games.
The previous government aimed for a 2036 bid, while other nations like Egypt have shown interest in hosting future events. Despite challenges such as scandals and costs, recent successful Games, including Tokyo's 2020 and Paris' recent edition, have rejuvenated the Olympic spirit, encouraging more countries to come forward.
