India Shines at Paris Olympics 2024 With Historic Feats in Multiple Sports

India concluded the Paris Olympics 2024 with six medals, just one short of its record haul from Tokyo 2020. Though not a record-breaking performance, it stands as India's third-best outing in the Summer Games, featuring landmark achievements across athletics, shooting, archery, badminton, and hockey.

India wrapped up its campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a commendable tally of six medals. This is just one short of the nation's record total from Tokyo 2020 but still marks India's third-best performance at the Summer Games, following Tokyo 2020 and London 2012. Indian athletes took part in 16 sports including archery, athletics, and badminton.

Athletics had the largest Indian contingent with 29 participants, while shooting saw the country's biggest-ever team of 21 athletes. Setting new records was a key theme for Indian athletes this year, despite the primary objective being medaling.

Neeraj Chopra added a silver to his Tokyo gold in javelin, Manu Bhaker made history as the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal, and the mixed team of Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured India's first team medal in shooting. The men's hockey team won back-to-back Olympic medals for the first time in 52 years, and archer Dhiraj Bommadevara along with Ankita Bhakat achieved India's best result in archery at the Olympics with a fourth-place finish.
