Li Wenwen clinched gold in the women's +81 kilogram division, marking China's fifth gold in weightlifting at the Paris Olympics. Li's total lift of 309 kilograms placed her far ahead of South Korea's silver medalist Park Hye-jeong at 299 kilograms and Britain's Emily Campbell at 288 kilograms.
Overcoming immense pressure and injuries, Li expressed her gratitude, noting the unwavering support she received from her country. China once again demonstrated its dominance in Olympic weightlifting, mirroring their success at the Tokyo Games, with Liu Huanhua, Li Fabin, Luo Shifang, and Hou Zhihui also securing golds in their respective categories.
The United States also celebrated achievements in weightlifting, with Olivia Reeves winning gold in the women's 71 kilograms and Hampton Morris earning a bronze in the men's 61 kilograms. Reeves became the first US Olympic weightlifting champion since 2000, while Morris is the first American man to medal in the sport since 1984.
