International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and Reliance Foundation chairperson, Nita Ambani, honored Olympic silver medallist Neeraj Chopra and bronze winners Aman Sehrawat, alongside Indian hockey team players at India House on Saturday. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha was also present to applaud the athletes' achievements.
The ceremony at India House celebrated their remarkable performances at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Among the Indian hockey players felicitated were PR Sreejesh, Abhishek Nain, Amit Rohidas, and Sanjay. Other team members arrived in Delhi on Saturday.
During the event, Nita Ambani praised Aman Sehrawat, highlighting his journey from a humble background in Haryana to becoming India's youngest Olympic medallist. 'Aman, you have proved that talent, ability, and hard work are all that matter. God bless you,' she said.
So far, India has secured six medals at the Paris Olympics, including five bronze and one silver. A brace from captain Harmanpreet Singh and key saves by PR Sreejesh led to a 2-1 win over Spain, earning India the bronze medal in hockey.
Aman Sehrawat clinched the bronze in the 57 kg freestyle wrestling by defeating Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz. Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra earned a silver in the men's javelin throw with 89.45 meters, narrowly missing out on defending his gold medal.
