Fiorentina has officially signed former Spain and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea. After being a free agent for the past year, the 33-year-old has secured a one-year deal with an option for an additional year, as announced by the Serie A club on Friday.
De Gea, who began his career at Atletico Madrid and won the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup there, was with Manchester United for 12 seasons. He left the English Premier League team in July 2023 at the end of his contract, having added the Premier League title, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and another Europa League title to his name.
He last played for the Spanish national team in 2020, earning a total of 45 caps. Fiorentina, who finished eighth in Serie A last season and lost the last two Conference League finals, have brought in De Gea to strengthen their squad.
